*depopulating a continent so you can use their people for labor, stealing its resources with more of its people, setting their people against each other, just straight up killing ~13 million people and mutilating more because they're not reaching your slavery quotas, (this one was a humanitarian effort btw) and dividing up their land by drawing lines on a map with no regard towards the fact that people and tribes with complex relations with one another live on those lands is hardly what i would call "guidance."
