This just in: Handing people free stuff is not development
There is literally no room for growth because we stick our richards in and offer free everything
Why be learn to be a doctor when there are free clinics funded by the west
Why be a farmer when we're sending free food all the time
Why even loving bother doing anything when all your hardships are taken care of by outside forces
It's not rocket science, you're literally arguing that giving Africans fish is better than teaching how to loving fish
I'm not saying you're fully wrong, It's for sure better to give someone the means of production rather than a product. If a countries basic needs are filled with what they need like food and medical aid for free, yeah, they're not going to do much because they get it for free. Although, when the aid steadies out at a normal rate the people of the country will start growing naturally on their own because they aren't busy trying to scrape up enough food for their family or whatever else they are lacking. Once this stability is introduced
then infrastructure can be built on because the country will have a stable population that isn't dying.
Much easier for me to work and contribute to society building better infrastructure if I'm not malnourished or dying from some disease because I've been chugging jungle juice from the swamp. Then after awhile I should be able to take care of myself and I won't
need the help anymore as my own country has stability, functioning government, jobs, education, etc.
Giving basic aid and handouts is an important part in the road of development.
