someone thats more knowledgeable on how the process works can probably speak to this, but id think Samsung would release a blanket patch for (supported) Samsung devices, Motorola release a blanket batch for Motorola devices, etc. im sure cell providers are probably notified of the changes being made, but you probably wont have to wait for each provider to allow the patch to be pushed out
