Also I'd like to point out that this is a client side issue; any device running android 6.0 or later for example is completely vulnerable to having any and all of their packets captured through any wifi connection. The only way this is going to be fixed is if manufacturers push out updates to all their devices to patch this severe flaw.

However if you're running a VPN that encrypts web traffic, are on ethernet, or are on an HTTPS secured website, you're safe.
