seems like you'll be able to run really any distro, then.
currently, my favorite distribution is manjaro - it's pretty much arch linux but really nicely customized and has some good packages and stuff installed. i personally recommend the xfce version, although versions for DE's such as GNOME do exist.

ubuntu 17.10 came out today.
biggest change is that it replaced the unity desktop environment with gnome
