resontes theory on spice🔥
The Resonte!:
my theory is that the polar opposite of 🔥spiciness🔥, the taste that primarily burns people, is mintiness.
hear me out
mintiness is all about coldness and chills, and spiciness is all about heat and burning
hence: polar opposites
if you eat spicy food and breath mints you'll probably get a tornado in your mouth
just try to prove me wrong on this one
note: you cant
Nonnel:
what if I try it
TristanLuigi:
this is actually completely accurate
menthol, the compound responsible for mintiness, activates the cold receptors in your mouth
capsaicin, the compound responsible for spiciness, activates the heat receptors
"Menthol's ability to chemically trigger the cold-sensitive TRPM8 receptors in the skin is responsible for the well-known cooling sensation it provokes when inhaled, eaten, or applied to the skin.[1] In this sense, it is similar to capsaicin, the chemical responsible for the spiciness of hot chilis (which stimulates heat sensors, also without causing an actual change in temperature)."
however, they wouldn't cancel each other out, just activate both receptors
which would be a weird experience
Nonnel:
I think I'm gonna try it

Am I the only one that noticed an influx of like half a dozen stuffpost topics in the last hour?
I wanted to ask here since if I make a new thread, I'm just contributing to it.
Also your theory is actually correct, OP.
