why real estate? was there ever fake estate? shouldn't it just be called "estate"??

yeah but that still doesn't explain why we have to specify the estate is real, and not just imaginary
edit: added poll quizzing people on where it came from

you're an idiot op
it's so that we don't confuse it with fake estate. forgets sake is it that hard to understand

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_property

"The term is historic, arising from the now-discontinued form of action, which distinguished between real property disputes and personal property disputes. Personal property was, and continues to be, all property that is not real property."

"In common law, real property was property that could be protected by some form of real action,[clarification needed] in contrast to personal property, where a plaintiff would have to resort to another form of action."

It's free real estate.

you guys just dont know the fake estate market

My mom is a former real estate agent, and iirc, she said that real means that it is actual, and estate means house, which is a type of property. So actual, owned, property.

Estate refers to property as owned by an individual. The real implies that the estate has actual market and legal value beyond the individual, such as a house, while possessions are not considered of any value by the same measurement.

There was an estate which was fake so someone made a real estate and sold it.
