Darryl McKoy:
Almost all his cries for help turn into him being a defeatist little baby, it's the only reason I remember his name

No don't do that. Reaching out and grabbing is what helps you get ahead in life. You need to call them and try everything you can to get that job. And if it doesn't work out, then you gotta move on to the next one and treat it the same way. Determination is required on your part, don't just bury your head in the sand and say its hopeless.

get over yourself and call them back bro. i have a couple friends who work as managers in retail/fast food and they say they dont even care about applications, theyre basically almost all the same: highschool/college kids with little experience besides volunteer work. the ones that stick out are obviously ones with previous experience, but that doesn't mean much because anyone whose not mentally handicapped can work retail. if two interviews went well and they had one position, they said they always just hire whoever seems more proactive about wanting the job. the most common way of showing that was calling back after the interview, or stopping into the store again and asking about the position

youre talking about this stuff like you know it again, but seriously, its not that deep
Nonnel:
I've gotten two of my three jobs by checking in after I put in my application. Seriously, do it.
