No, heavy duty vehicles no longer have rubber belts in favor of chains to avoid blowing the engine under heavy load. Belts are supposed to be changed every x kms and heavy usage adds premature wear.

if you snapped your timing belt it is very likely catastrophic engine damage could have occurred. you may blow and engine head depending how hard the initial stop was.

hoping the best for you OP, but dont let the mechanics forget you over.
