the japanese during world war 2 were terrified to invade mainland america because they knew there'd be a rifle in the hands of every american. besides, armor in urban environments are extremely vulnerable, even with infantry escort. all it takes is a pipe bomb or a molotov roostertail in an open hatch and you've got fresh fried tank crew
