--- Quote from: Red Spy on November 10, 2017, 10:43:44 PM ---so you're telling me you'd feel better if the military took control of the government, right?

--- End quote ---
where did I even say that, like how the forget did you get that from that?

I said the military would realistically install another democratic government if yours right now tried to go full-dictatorship, nowhere did I even imply nor is your military even known for wanting to install some military-junta

--- Quote from: Ragequit on November 10, 2017, 10:46:27 PM ---because the past still holds relevance? if we could deter one of the world's strongest naval forces at its time, we can deter our own government from rolling tanks in our front yards

--- End quote ---
no you can't, like any weapon a civilian has would hardly stop a tank. that's the whole point of a tank unless you have another tank or plane to bomb it with. civilians have almost 0 access to either of these things and the us military has complete access to these weapons, so ultimately it's lost

--- Quote from: Ragequit on November 10, 2017, 10:46:27 PM ---the second amendment is still very much relevant whether you like it or not, because it's better to have protection and not need it than to need protection and not have it.

--- End quote ---
again, too unlikely

--- Quote from: Ragequit on November 10, 2017, 10:46:27 PM ---i don't expect anyone to invade the united states, but it is a possibility, and i would like for us to be prepared even if it never happens.

--- End quote ---
then you're just being delusional, and you shouldn't use that as a reason to keep them legal for literally everyone. it will never happen because your military is unlikely to go against peaceful civilians. your country was founded on and it's culture is centred around being ethical like most 1st world countries

--- Quote from: Ragequit on November 10, 2017, 10:46:27 PM ---but we have people to form militias to assist them should they need it. i'm not making anything up, i'm considering possibilities.

however i never said we'd be invaded. my prime concern is that our own goverment might pull some bullstuff. while it's far-fetched now, it could be a very real situation in the future.

--- End quote ---
if you have the need to form militias, the likely chance is that all law and order has broken down anyway and access to these guns is permitted. no one is saying you should or can ban guns completely, only make them more difficult to get for the wrong types of people such as actual psychopaths and the mentally unstable, and truth be told you hardly need an assault rifle even if your reason is the 0.00001% chance the government tries to kill it's population

do y’all really think you’re gonna fight an army of highly trained soldiers with billions of dollars worth of equipment with your shotguns lmao

"ok guys we have orders to kill these civilians"
"i see no problem with this let's roll out"

...your point? people would be incredibly opposed to the idea of becoming a military dictatorship, so there would be riots and the military would have to pick a side. literally no one is disagreeing with the fact the military would likely pick the side of the civilians and by then the war is already won
