Slayer path nodes and rally points

I've noticed these in the slayer bricks and I was hoping to clarify some questions I've had about them:
Do these nodes work for pathing?
I'd assume so but I can't get them to work, and if they do work, how?
If they do work is it possible to get them working with endless zombies?
