Remember, if you don't like the default speed, you can do what I did.

I fixed this by opening a new tab, typing about:config, and set mousewheel.acceleration.start to 1 instead of -1

The real reason you should be using firefox is not because it's faster, but because it's made to respect your privacy (ie. not made by a company that makes it's money by knowing everything about you). The fact that it's also faster now is just icing on the cake, there shouldn't be any reason to not use it now.
