ethereum is pretty similar to bitcoin in the what-not-to-mine-unless-you're-patient list, and he was referring to bitcoin. i already said not to use bitcoins as the fees would drop 80 to 60, some exhanges even offering fees of 34 dollars per exchange.

I'm telling him not to buy it for money. If he has any other cryptos to trade for ethereum, go for it, but my experience with fiat-buying big currencies usually entails problems with you losing actual money/getting too greedy and going into a dip/bigger exchanges not allowing people of his and my age to buy it.
