some of my favorite servers (like Jorgur's) and experiences (just loving around on bedroom for hours with friends) were enabled by maps existing. certain aspects of the game are basically obsolete now. (like skiing is basically trash now because its hard to create surfaces that are conducive to it with bricks) I'm okay with all that though as long as I can go back and play v20 once in a while.
Btw the argument that "maps are for lazy people" is trash. Not everybody is always up to build a giant expansive map for them to richard around on.

tbh this. during the kompressor era i was pro-shaders but nowadays i really don't think a graphics update was worth the loss of maps
the maps-stifle-creativity argument is honestly just "people are playing with a different style than me and are wrong for doing it"- if someone wants to chillax on a good map, they might not want to search for a public save or go through the tedium of terrain building themselves

Missed the 'B4' on v21. Regardless, if the map feature exists and terrain blocks don't, I don't think making it a point that people don't use brick-made terrain in B4v21 is a valid point lmao

I'm still a proponent of shaders but I think that the increase in difficulty of content creation should have been counterbalanced by a new platform to share stuff. A built-in RTB/Steam Workshop kinda deal that lets you share builds/terrain easier.
ModTer looks very good, but it's a pain in the ass to build, and it would have been most ideal if you could simply download someone's public terrain save on the fly and use it like a map.

"But Steam Workshop is evil, just use Glass instead!!!!! People will just upload viruses and delete their content out of spite!!!!"
