Why does it seem like you have to be a veteran to host a successful server?

It took ages for anyone to start joining my servers.
Guess it's a reputation thing.

As I stated before at one moment I had to put up a password cause people kept joining and distracting me when I build. I have no idea why this happened literally the servers name was "stuff as always". Now it has eased down which I'm happy for.
