Plethora:

Aif returns to his fire, being sure to mark in his mind where the good branches were.  The dark will make things a lot harder for him, and he determines to try to get some shuteye.  He eats what remains of the mushrooms and berries and tends the fire until he drops off.

--- Quote from: SWAT One on December 25, 2017, 09:57:36 PM ---As Theric makes his way down the hill, the people first observe to see if it is a familiar face, and seeing that it's no one that they know, step back cautiously. Those who are more intoxicated do more of a stumble. The guards raise their spears at Theric as he continues down the hill and bark orders, whether at him or at the other guards. They don't approach him aggressively, however, and hold their ground as he approaches. As he holds out his gift of coins, the townspeople begin to look at one another. Following Theric's bow, the voice of an older male is heard behind the crowd, speaking an unfamiliar tongue. He steps out from the doorframe from the back of a large wood, stone and plaster house, walking straight toward Theric, and the guards loosen their grip a little.

The elder crosses past the spear points and reaches out his wrinkled hand to receive the gift.

Theric's eyes flick back and forth between everyone gathered. He maintains his place, lips pursed as his eyes following the rising spear heads that point towards him. He takes this moment to get a glimpse at everyone's face, though his attention is snared when he hears foreign words being barked. The voice of an elder has Theric looking over as the old man comes forward.

He glances down at the outstretched hand- placing the armor and the coin purse atop of it into the old mans grasp with a controlled gentleness. After this, he looks up to the elder making the motions of sipping from a cup, and then pointing at himself.

SWAT One:

Aif's fire keeps warming and growing healthier. The sizzling of the pine pitch keeps the fire bright and warm. After eating the remaining food he gathered, he drifts off to sleep on the ground, warmed by the fire.

The elder ignores Theric's request, taking a moment to look over the armor, holding the bag of coins between his side and he crook of his arm. He glances over its features for a minute, using the glow of the bonfire nearby to inspect its features. He then calls out to one of the guards, who lowers his spear and steps forward to receive the armor as the elder hands it back to him. The guard maintains eye contact with Theric, receiving the gift and handing the armor to his officer, who stands behind the line of spearmen.

The elder speaks to Theric, looking him in the eyes, but Theric is unable to discern whether he asked a question, made a statement, or issued a command. The elder maintains eye contact while retrieving the bag and pouring the contents into his hand. His eyes widen at the sight of the gold and silver coins, and a hum-like murmur is heard from the crowd to the sides which can see the contents as they begin speaking to amongst one another.

The elder looks back to the captain of the guard and starts shouting orders, pointing this way and that, highlighting other people amongst the crowd and issuing orders likewise. The people ordered scatter in different directions The onlookers seem to calm down, and the guards return at ease. In a moment, the elder receives an old bronze tankard and smiles, handing it to Theric. It's a brimming, foaming glass of ale. Still smiling, he receives a tankard himself and beckons Theric to drink, raising his own drink also.

Theric's lips purse as his request isn't immediately met. His eyes flick between every moving figure before they land back onto the elder. He stares back at the guard, a small lopsided frown on his features as he watches the armor go back beyond the spear line. There's a sniffle, and he's taking a cautious look around the area.

Then he hears the older voice, looking back to the Elder with a confused blink. Their eyes lock, and he tries to discern his motives from look alone before he replies in his own tongue. "I don't know what you're saying." he says, his brows furrowing with his words. When he sees the elders reaction to the coins, his own brows rise in a little surprise. It's not that big of a deal... is it? Well, the crowd seems to think it is.

Theric seems confused now, looking around as everything seems to have just gone back to normal since before he showed up. When the bronze tankard is offered towards him, he looks down at it and gives its contents a sniff... Yeah- that's booze. Eyes widen and he licks his lips, looking up to the Elder and giving him a gracious nod. "Thank you!" he says, in a course and excited voice before he's leaning back and chugging it down with little suspicion. He wanted water and got booze- that's pretty good in his book. Once he's done, he raises his tankard and lets out a small cheer, as if he's been hanging out with the people here for ages.

This place is pretty alright.

SWAT One:

Theric stays up late into the night and parties with the people of the household. They briefly show Theric a view of the rest of the village, which they call Akkeman, and they, the Akkemani. Other parties are going on within the small costal town, and Theric learns that they were in the middle of their Tervetuloa Kevään celebration, welcoming in the springtime to come before planting would begin. Some villagers help him to learn the bare basics of their language. The elder is called Eetu, and also introduces his sons and daughters, the heads of the servants, the captain of the guard, and some others. Hearing that a foreigner had reached their village, several other villagers come to the house to marvel at the newcomer. After being provided food and drink, Theric is given a bed and drifts off to sleep.

He wakes up the next morning in a somewhat musty room with stone & plaster walls with wooden beams. A window barred only with some wood planks is high on the wall, touching the low ceiling. There are numerous bags, boxes and clay jars around the room. He must have been put up in the cellar.  He looks to his side, and his spear was rested against the wall.

Aif wakes up with a start, shivering, with a cold and sore back which was left facing away from the fire he had built, which is now only coals and embers left behind. It is morning. All around him is fog. He cannot see to the mainland as he was able to yesterday. He is hungry and his mouth is dry.

Väinö spent the night in a restless apprehension over what his fate would be on this unknown land. He is cold, sore, tired, hungry, and thirsty and surrounded in a cloud of fog.

Yana wakes up early and stretches before she climbs down the tree in which she had taken residence, taking her sailcloth and rope hammock down with her. She comes back down to her fire, which now lay as a pile of ashes and soot. With her stomach growling, she immediately goes out on the hunt for food, whether animal or plant. Knowing what is already familiar to her, she finds some mokachi berries and eats some of them, only barely satiating her hunger.
