It needs to be maximum 75x75 pixels large. Clear your cache if it seemed to have worked and didn't tell you the filesize was too large.

It just takes some finagling, like, saving it as a GIF with different settings if one doesn't work out, making the image smaller than 75x75, saving it as a JPG, saving it as a PNG, etc
