--- Quote from: Cappytaino on December 18, 2017, 05:12:23 PM ---Argumentum ad lapidem (Latin: "appeal to the stone") is a logical fallacy that consists in dismissing a statement as absurd without giving proof of its absurdity. --- End quote --- You've already reached an absurd stance on something that everyone else has more than sufficiently reached a consensus on. Why would I waste my time giving you proof of your absurdity? |

trying to argue which ideology responsible for millions of deaths is better because x ideology killed them for reason a while y ideology killed them for reason b is pretty pointless, because at the end of the day you still have millions of corpses the reasons for that really are meaningless beyond whatever moral debate you want to have over it because ultimately you still have a pile of corpses. it doesn't really matter so much how you got to that point as it does the fact that you're at that point to begin with ultimately this whole trash fire comes down to "x is better than y because x killed 10 million people this way and this way is inherently better than the way y killed 10 million people" as if the fact that both killed 10 million people is irrelevant and the means is the only thing that matters fascism doesn't necessarily have to have an internal genocide of its own populace and communism doesn't necessarily have to have mass political purges and the massacre and genocide of religious populations and intellectuals. who cares. both systems have killed millions of people at the end of the day. |

The only conclusion to reach here is that calling communism and national socialistsm equally terrible is kinda dumb. They're both two separate kinds of stuff for entirely different reasons. But another thing to point out that calling them equal isn't that different from saying they're both stuff but in a different way, so no harm no foul. The dumb stuff sets in when people try to say one's worse than the other and then tries to explain why. |
