suggest me good graphic novels to read

I've recently been reading some graphic novels and I'd like to see what other ones I can buy to read.
I have read:
* Maus (complete edition)
* Batman the dark knight returns
I am currently reading:
* V for vendetta
* The road to perdition
I prefer more mature comics with a sense of meaning, like I'm not one of those "I love marvel forget DC" type of people I just like really good stories with meaning like Maus. Anyone got any good suggestions for me?
