not really, I watched a lot of horror films as a kid and still do. only other movie that scared me badly as a kid was Stanley Kubrick's The Shining (I legit couldmn't sleep with the lights out for weeks bc of the creepy ass bathtub zombie). none of the Scream/Halloween movies or The Strangers got to me. didn't help that they were all terrible. Alien and The Thing are great but never actually scared me. I was just haunted by the creepy-ass face (which didn't make a lot of sense, bc even if you stiched your eyes shut and couldnt see they would be horizontal, not vertical slits.)
I'm rewatching it now and its HILARIOUS. the cuts whenever something 'spooky' happens are unintentionally comedic gold. I knew it was bad when I was 12 but I didn't realize how funny the editing was.
this scene made me laugh my ass off. it was so scary in my memory but the horrible cinematography of the knife going up and down is so funny. also the way she screams unconvincingly without trying to get away and the way that smiley waves and closes the laptop.
