how to make stereo mix stop recording my mic?

no, go on your sound control panel and look for this:

yours should be plugged in obviously

again, you can't actually hear anything through your normal headphones when this is default. I have no idea why stereo mix needs it to work.

alright and then ill set that as my default device(?). ill try it again with the song and in audacity ill try to change the settings with that as well

yep. that as default playback device, then go to recording and set the stereo mix as the default device.

huh what do you know it works

stereo mix will still record my mic but i had to press the button to turn it off. looks like im gonna have to be using the speakers and the button more if i'm gonna have to record sounds lol.
