What Are Your Non-Video Game Hobbies?

Pages: << < (10/14) > >>

Mr Queeba:

Working with computers

Platypi:

Some of these hobbies are more involved than others (listed in order of prominence):

* music
* namely piano, singing, and songwriting
* used to compose classical pieces, but found singing to be more enjoyable
* currently working on album; want to finish writing the songs this year, and record them all next year
* trying to get back into digital music production (namely with LMMS)
* pull out my melodica from time to time
* computer science
* programming (pretty broad; won't bother enumerating everything)
* system administration, with Linux on a home server
* electronics
* salvaging parts
* tinkering
* occasionally doing actual circuit design (taking a class on electrical engineering right now, so hopefully I'll be able to do more in the coming year)
* want to play with programmable micro-electronics, but haven't found the time yet (figure I'll wait until after my EE class)
* reading
* technical (computer science, math, AI theory, information security, research papers, etc.), philosophy, psychology, history, occasionally some fiction, and sci-fi (but only stuff with philosophical and/or political themes, like Orwell's 1984 and Zamyatin's We; not really into thrillers)
* information security
* wargames and trying out simple exploits
* part of a InfoSec/CTF club at my university; not skilled enough to do competitive CTFs yet, though
* occasionally doing something questionably legal
* Russian
* learning to read, write, and speak it
* just started; New Year's resolution
* literature and history
* lockpicking
* got a basic lock picking set and a few master locks
* not very good, but it saved my ass when I lost my keys once
That's the current agenda.

They probably just aren't very good yet. Depending how often you practice, it can takes years before you can make anything worth presenting. I've picked up drawing on and off my whole life, and I've rarely produced anything I'd be proud to share.

Definitely post it here. Love hearing from artists no one knows about (that came out as kind of insulting woops).

--- Quote from: mod-man on January 08, 2018, 06:27:10 AM ---ive been getting into more traditional hobbies like ... ham radio operating ... blacksmithing

Same. Done any casting before? That's something else I've been wanting to do for awhile.
