That sounds pretty gross

as a user of them and not more of a hitscan savvy i think it's safe to say it has its appropriate times as much as projectile weapons.

whether you're going for realistic or something extremely powerful in a gamemode or a randomizer deathmatch, yeah. but you shouldn't put it in arcade-like gamemodes where projectiles would be necessary as an arcade-y fun unrealistic theme.

you get to be more careful and predict your shots a bit more with projectiles than you could at hitscan

You can change the projectile's initialvelocity immediately after it's created to bypass the limit, but clients will still see the projectile going at it's normal speed limit.

is this how weapons like the long las work? i've always thought it fired hitscan and just had some sort of weird useless projectile

weapon_packagecomplex has timed raycast "bullets" so they are faster than projectiles yet dont hit the target instantly
