Author Topic: [NEWS] Fortnite sued for 'copying' rival game PUBG  (Read 2130 times)

they actually sued for using PUBG in their advertising, saying its better or something.
fun fact also, pubg uses unreal engine, and has asset-flipped a lot of unreal store assets.
a company that used unreal and sued epic games has happened before, resulting in a pricey countersue, a revoke of the license, and destruction of all copies

Using store assets doesn't mean it's an asset flip.
Those store assets exist for a reason. So you can buy/download them to help you make a game. A lot of the store assets are really nice and it would be a shame if they never got used because people would fear the dreaded "asset flip" label.
That being said, there are games that literally use base engine code, some free store assets, slapped together and launched on steam for like $5 to turn a quick profit. Those are asset flips.

Another game I play made a pretty big post describing how they make use of store assets.

fortnite sux
it's above mediocre but not particularly good and definitely overrated

The only good BR game disappeared when rome fell.

Yeah this, there's a Jimquisition video all about the feud. PUBG is so bland that any shooter on the market could be made a case for copying it, and it could have a case made against it for copying other shooters. It's so generic. And yeah, asset flips and unreal engine. I'll be happy to see PUBG go down in flames.

And no I am not a fortnite fanboy, it's just a lot more unique than PUBG is.

Fortnite and PUBG are both loving dog stuff.

video games can't do that
