Yeah this is a pretty common occurance. There are literally hundreds of Chinese servers that spend their entire day trying every possible combination of IP addresses and trying basic log in info.
I hosted a website a couple of years ago and I always had Chinese IP's trying to access the wp-admin page of my website even though I wasn't running Wordpress.

at one point i had something like 100k+ failed attempts in a day to log into root on my vps before i set up login attempt restrictions
