it is worth mentioning that this site has been around for about as long as vidme was, and bitchute has the potential to survive longer than vidme did because of the peer-to-peer streaming. bitchute isn't as costly as vidme or youtube for this reason. however, this also results in lower quality video and a lot more buffering.

mathew did you make this? Because you talked about how you would make a magical p2p alternative to youtube like a year ago

what a lot of people don't understand is that youtube will always be a monopoly. not only is youtube used by everybody and their grandparents and their grandparents' grandparents, youtube is utilized by people from outside the internet industry. talk show hosts like kimmel and corden gain significant audiences and income from youtube alone; you won't see celebrity entities move onto something that sounds like a bitcoin miner. vidme, bitchute and any other alternative will never, ever catch on, just accept your red and white overlords.

oh boy, i can't wait to check up on my daily conspiracies about how the jewish are actually reptilian aliens from another dimension controlling the universe on this platform

i checked the front page out and it looks like a mixture between a tabloid news and a research site, very unappealing.

i may have to stop playing the master matthew drinking game if this continues

Those people are unfunny obnoxious friends and should all be banned off the internet. They parasitically leech off of youtube and exploit the trending system. They weren't the people who made it popular or into a monopoly.

the only thing that will kill youtube is a platform that takes artists + youtubers seriously and pays them well for their work to give them an incentive to actually migrate over. a refuge for right wing doofuses that got banned from YT won't help anyone

you have to realize that not everybody is as smart as you and a lot of people love their shows, myself not really included. my main point is that while they didn't make youtube popular, they are a huge source of youtube's traffic nowadays evident by their constant position on the front page and the trending tab. youtube as a site could definitely continue to thrive without them, but it's a factor into what drives the platform to be the most popular site just under it's parent: google.

Youtube trending and the front page is hand-picked. I've seen videos on trending that have 15 thousand views. They show stuff that's safe and good looking for advertisers.

and? i never said anything about the trending tab being automated. youtube has bias and favoritism for these late-night shows, music videos and movie trailers because they bring in massive amounts of traffic. whether they're hand-picked or not, they're going to reach the front page; that's how youtube has been for ages now.

Then why does there need to be a dedicated "trending" page if the videos will just end up on the front page anyway?
Why aren't up and coming youtubers, people who put real effort and are making real headway in their viewerbase, getting up there?

Because they aren't "Advertiser friendly"

forget the advertisers, there are other ways to make tons of money outside of sucking Pepsi's richard for a living.

Late night show clips get views BECAUSE they are trending. Not the other way around.

Also the views late night shows get aren't even comparable to music videos and trailers, it would be idiotic to even attempt to make a comparison. They used to get like 100k views back in 2015 before alot of the changes went through with youtube.
