People spit "Oh just cut military spending" but even doing that will only pay for a slim margin of what we would need for universal healthcare in the US.
lol. we spend more money on our military than the next 10 combined. Even spending double of what China spends would be sufficient, leaving, oh, roughly 400 BILLION to spend on other more important things.
We're also one of the most populated countries in the world meaning that we would be spending a hell of a lot more on healthcare.
we're the third most populous right now, but plenty of statisticians predict that we'll be surpassed by 2030 by several other countries.
Something definitely needs to be done about healthcare but I think the way to solve it is to hammer down on the insurance companies and monopolies responsible for these ridiculous prices.
I'll give you that. To actually provide a chance for decent healthcare, insurance companies and Big Pharma would have to be squashed, but good luck.
It sucks but if you think the US government can foot the bill for 325.7 million people and their multitude of health problems you are sorely mistaken
Free healthcare is not free and the people who would end up getting taxed to pay for stuffty, subpar government healthcare are already getting tax-raped into poverty.
Then implement tax-effective policies instead of jumping between systems that haven't worked for decades. Once more appropriate tax policies are brought in, it'll be more cost effective to front the bill. reference my response to military spending on the top of this post.
Healthcare should be affordable but it should not be nationalized under any circumstances. I don't want the government dictating my level of healthcare if I can do that my damn self with my own money, just because others cant afford it.
Fair enough opinion, not mine but I can see where you're coming from.
