Author Topic: GarageGames.com shutting down?  (Read 955 times)

Hello!

I came across this blog post in my news feed from GarageGames, GG.. The post is from 2017. Blockland uses a GG game engine so perhaps someone could shed some light on what's happening? I understand that an engine codebase was open sourced and so I'm asssuming that's made GG redundant but I could be wrong.

I was going to ask on the GG forums but it's barely active.

you could probably ask in the torque 3d developer discord

GarageGames is essentially a zombie at this point.  It was bought and sold multiple times, pretty much everyone left, and development of Torque3D was completely handed over to the community.  There's a steering committee now that makes all the decisions and pulls all the changes; it's just hosted on GarageGames' GitHub repo.

https://forums.torque3d.org is what you'll want to use for anything related to the modern version of the Torque engine.  There's also a Discord somewhere.  They're currently working on a massive 4.0 update that's supposed to come out sometime this year so the engine itself isn't dead, just GG.

Okay guys, heres how torque3d can still win the engine wars...
