I hate when the earthquakes try to get out of their homes, we need earthquake control laws /support.

I was somewhat close and felt the stuff it shook my room

was in CA for a few days, and just happened to be next to the quakes
wasn't too bad, was in the tallest building, 4th floor of a hotel while all the other buildings are 1-2 floors

turns out airplane turbulence feels surprisingly similar to earthquakes

Well, Cali building codes are strict as forget for this very reason. You may actually feel the tremors less in a properly spec'd building due to mass dampers.
