all the guests are random bots scrubbing the pages. this happens to a lot of active forums for whatever reason

Not just forums. There are a lot of bots that just wonder around the web. I get a lot of random connections to my website that I use just for testing stuff. Most of them are just some random companies that keep databses of websites n stuff.
