This is a good point and I can't argue against it, you're correct. I think it's worth noting the lolcow's who's information is public generally weren't people hiding behind anonymity anyway. People who've posted their face or shared their name, etc. This doesn't justify sharing very personal information like phone numbers or addresses, but yeah. There should be a more stringent rule regarding sharing peoples information, but we have to remember KF isn't a funded website. It's out of Iban's own pocket and the few moderators that it does have are volunteers.

Reddit used this hands off moderation approach for a long time, allowing subreddits like /r/picsofdeadkids and other shocking subs exist in order to "protect free speech", but the bad press did catch up with them eventually so now we have a more strict Reddit.

--- Quote from: Conan on September 06, 2022, 02:50:27 AM ---you can say that theres a benefit in that kf have targeted genuinely bad people, but what kf identifies as a "bad person" can include people who haven't actually done anything seriously wrong, and vice versa. i personally wouldn't trust iban (or anyone i only know online, for that matter) to be impartial, ethical, or fair in drawing that line as the site administrator, given the lack of accountability except in extremely egregious situations.

Also correct, and there are threads on folks who have not done much wrong other than post cringy/stupid stuff. IBan is more just the owner than he is an admin, he doesn't enforce anything and there also isn't really a lolcow guideline/rulebook. If it means anything, threads on people who are harmless don't last for long. There's thousands and thousands of threads, but only a handful are regularly posted in. 90 percent of them gain no traction and die quickly.

/gif/ is for gifs/webms. The only rule is you have to post gifs. read the rules.

This is kinda the same debate that caused /d/ to become a thing. Same stuff different day.

This thread is just /qa/ all over again

/gif/ is dogstuff these days and we don't even get good ylyl or music threads on their anymore and all the research is the same stuff that is posted by 1 Jewish guy.
Only good boards these days are /k/ and /o/ and /k/ is currently full of Ukraine threads and /pol/ slide threads

I really couldn't help myself but comment on this: What site do you think you're browsing on? It's literally a website for anime, it takes a very special person to post on 4chan. Why are you so delusional to think that dudes who like to dress like girls aren't on it? Have you even watched anime? Have you entirely missed the fact the term "trap" was minted on this website? How an entire cross dressing style has been built upon this website? Like prior to 4chan there was drag, now there's goth femboys that all look like bailey jay.

Like I'm so confused by the two sides of 4chan right now. Sorry to make two posts.
