a cool thing about GOES and other NOAA satellites is that they operate in full transparency

when I was in highschool, I used a modified driver for a TV tuning chip to capture these exact weather images from GOES and NOAA-18 with a homebrew antenna out of my backyard. it was a lot more fun to track and receive the images myself than just to look them up online imo
