i feel like the actual long term solution would be to finally make our own forums. probs wont avoid drama but better this than the unchecked spambot

I mean a tricky thing is how many spam bots and content scrapers try to join forums, the BLF has the ability to filter these by tying the accounts to purchasable keys, but I dont really want another Something Awful forum or similar with like a paywall or premium section. And right now the community here isn't really big enough to justify making a whole new one to avoid the few spambots that had somehow made it past the key filter.

There are the BCC and BU discord channels that I know of, but I don't really visit those too often and I don't think people there would appreciate me maintaining current events threads there since most of the people whove mentioned me have done so to complain how annoying I am here with my critiquing imperial capitalist states stuff, and the brickadia discord has a strict no politics rule.

Posting here also has a lower barrier than say me ranting on tiktok like every other white male leftist out there, and I've gotten generally positive feedback from people whove said that ive brought up things they hadnt heard talked about before.

yeah, that and someone is gonna have to either host the site themselves or pay to host it/buy a domain as well, i don't think many people are gonna volunteer to do that

I've always thought of making a livestream called "Off-Topic on: Topic" or whatever clever pun I could get away with that was basically a call-in show specifically for this board where we could all argue with our actual voices. This was at the height of the BLF's popularity, same time I was doing Brockrand podcast with Hodot and the gang. Never materialized, mostly because I didn't want to debate/be moderator for the knock-off lego forum's politics.

as mentioned by me in the other topic, this has been broken for a while, so the only people who can engage with your posts are ogs who still check here. that said, non-premium accounts do get to read the post without the word filter.

theres a bcs (blockland community of sports) forum and an age of dungeons forum both running as self-hosted services that aren't likely to go anywhere soon, knowing the hosts (eagle and pecon). they're just pretty niche despite not being solely about the community/server they're tied to.
