The poll states the popularity of said group.
Not necessarily popularity. A poll is a cumulation of what people think about a subject. According to this poll, a majority think that ninjas are better.

I think ninjas are awesome.

Too many cool ninja-related games and movies.

Like Ninja Gaiden 2, and N, and Soul Calibur has a ninja in it.

Ninjas are winning finally.

Ninja's suck. They can't swim, a pirate could just punch it into the water if it even managed to get on his boat.

They can't swim
Somehow I highly doubt that; where exactly did you find this information?

Ninjas won't dare attack you while you're on fire, since they're cowards. Pirates however, will attack you regardless of whether you're on fire or not.

I find the lack of logical thinking in this topic almost unnatural.

Then spend forever training with swords, when do you learn to swim? That and when you're wearing dark shades and it gets wet in an Asian area, you get warm.

gun >>>sword

you seen to many cartoons if you think there are skilled swordsman out there deflecting and dodging bullets.

Asian civilizations were some of the first to develop gun powder; you don't think ninjas may have had some sort of explosive/gun?

if your implying ninjas deflect and dodge bullets, your point isn't being made.
im sure bombs and fireworks were cute. but many a ninja and samurai were owned shootemup style when western influence got them governments to change things.

I never said anything about that.

Also,

It's not that hard to at least learn to tread water. With all the combat training they most likely received, I doubt swimming would be something that is overlooked.

Didn't ninjas have some sort of skill to walk on water in stories and such?

In many fables, yes.

In reality, it was also thought that they developed a form of footwear that would allow them to float on water, giving them the appearance of walking on it. This, however, was disproved.
(I watch Mythbusters too much :D)

In reality.........

Yeah. When I see arguements like these and such, I don't really look at the real-life counterparts of things, just the kind you see in books, fables, and stories.
