Spore and Mass Effect require online validation every 10 days

Bisjac:
i still see someone who is mad they cant warez it.

you pretty much need net access ANYWAY to play the damn game. as any and ALL content is created by other users and is what generates into your world randomly. this wasn't a little content gimmick, this was a main basis of what the game was.
so inconvenient i guess right?
you cant claim that worse case scenario WILL happen to make some point. i could just as well tell all sorts of possible stories why anything we buy will fail.

My argument doesn't have so much to do with just Spore as it does with online activation in general. Of course I'm not 100% certain that authentication will eventually shut down and a patch won't be released to remedy it, I just predict it to be very probable, as now they actually have the ability to shut off your game where they couldn't before. The reason I assume the worst is because I see numerous past examples of things happening in the industry with very few instances of any good outcomes. Basically, Murthy's law.

I find it unfortunate that you really insist I'm just a pirate who's saying all of this because I'ld want to crack Spore, that I'm not legitimately making these statements. Also, what makes you think this method of copy protection will trully put an end to piracy, if you think I'm pissed off about that?

Hell, look at the post made by Badspot. He probably said it best in simple terms.
Bisjac:
isnt blockland the same? sure 1 time activation online. but what if you reinstall or reformat? and the game is just no longer supported? there goes 20 bucks.
game developers cant be told the same as recording artists. that if they are any good at all, people will still pay to see them in concert.
piracy is tougher on ones who's income is more narrow. i could see them trying new things.
Sheezy:
Bisjac, if you are talking about limited installs all you have to do once your installs run out is call EA tech support
Bisjac:
im not talking about that. we talking about single players games that require online activation to even play at all.
