Need a slate

but whats the best slate? one with the lighting that don't distort the colors of bricks
(i dont like construct, all that white give me a headache)

I would suggest slate desert, it has good lighting.

too black. Its hard to look for anything once you spawn.

Uh, it's hard to look for stuff when you spawn if the background is giving you a headache. As long as your build isn't purely dark bricks (on the exterior, anyways) it's not hard to find.
