Author Topic: Help me build a pc!  (Read 2381 times)

Okay, well my pc has gone to the pooper recently.

First XP crashed and wouldn't even be able to reinstall.

Then Ubuntu crashed and it was all hell since then.

Well anyways, I have a budget of $1,200 or lower. I am wanting to build my own pc.

I prefer the site Newegg since I love it and all that. But any other site is good.

Things I would want for the computer is...
600w Power Supply
3gb RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz, unless there's something better for a good price...
PCI Express 2.0 x16 Graphics card...I want something that will last years...

can i has old graphics card pls :D

Umm, I don't think mine is worse than yours.

Mine is a Nvidia GeForce 6200 PCI....not pcie, but the gay crappy pci.

The reason I settled for something that low is because my computer sucks and it's motherboard can only do PCI.

use this.

Considering that people have different budgets and different ideas and old posts consists of old hardware.

No. I will not.

use this.

moron.
qft :D

Oh and btw, if for some reason I can't build my own pc and have to resot to prebuilt ones.

Then this is what I am going to do...

iBUYPOWER Gamer 912TL
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227071
$919.99

and...

Acer X193W+BD Black 19" 5ms Widescreen LCD Monitor
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009127
$159.99

Those would cost $1,124.24

So it's all good if I have to do that.

PM reactor worker, he made mine

uh never mind then :D

I'd pretty much recommend the same parts that I did to digmaster. If you can fit it in your budget perhaps upgrade the graphics card or splurge on a nice case.

If you really want the best of the best, the new Nvidia 280 cards should be out very soon and will be the most advanced yet. Quite expensive but would last you awhile.

Right now I would stick with the E8400 as the quad cores just don't seem to serve much purpose without any multi-threaded applications.

There will always be more expensive, more powerful components but the PC I recommended to Digmaster remains powerful enough to run modern games on high settings whilst maintaining a high frame rate.
