I am getting a new desktop computer in the next couple weeks and I have a budget of around $2500 and was wondering what would be the best thing to get for that money. I am planning on building it, but I do not know exactly what would be the best to get for gaming. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone would help me with picking out what to get. I would prefer vista or xp for the operating system. I plan on using this mostly for gaming and would like it to last for at least 5 years. I basically want a dependable, powerful pc that will be great for gaming. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Of course, I figured that if I got vista I would probably try to go with 4 gigs.

Alienware wouldn't be terrible if they didn't jack their prices up. That is why I want to build one myself, because I know that if I do that I can get way more bang for my buck.

Only get an Sli(sp?) board, get two of the graphics cards, get 2 of the RAMs. And get a bigger Power supply

Upgrade to quad core

get a terabate HDD?

If you get everything above, I'd get a 1,500w PSU, just to be safe.
for 2,500, you can get a LOT

(Following that list with with a few changes (bigger PSU, different case, difference motherboard) it cost $1,600.

(get 8Gb of ram. The RAM on the list is only $90 for 4Gb.)
