When you were new to the Internet...

Author Topic: When you were new to the Internet...  (Read 5999 times)

I was very, very young. I actually think The Sims hadn't been released yet. I mainly played SimAnt (I miss that game, is it freeware yet?) and Im sure I played some other crap too. I had no idea what Runescape was, and our internet was very slow. We used IE, a very early version though :P
Whatever came with Win95. I also remember my computer had a humpback instead of a case.

I was the first person to have cyber4 with a dead tree on runescape.

Oh yeah I played SimAnt before runescape methinks.

A few things I remember:

Edit I actually just found Falcon 3.0...  every disk was there.  :cookieMonster:

What's a cyber4?

My ISP was @Home provided by my cable company, TCI. Before then we were on AOL. Not being able to use your phone and the Internet at the same time sucks. So basically, to sum it up, ever since 1996 I've been getting my Internet through cable.

My three most visited sites during the 90s were:

http://web.archive.org/web/19990125085110/http://cheatcc.com/
http://web.archive.org/web/19970218070900/http://www.gamefaqs.com/
http://web.archive.org/web/19981111190743/http://www.yahooligans.com/

It wasn't until I was 15 that I registered for my first forum. It happened to be this one, and it's basically one of the only ones I ever post on.

My elementary school computer system consisted of the following operating systems, all able to access the Internet: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 3.1, Mac OS 7. There were also a bunch of Apple IIc desktops, I played Oregon Trail on a 5 1/4-inch floppy.

Games I played:

Microsoft Arcade
Reader Rabbit Kindergarten
Math Blaster
Civilization II
Age of Empires II
Oregon Trail II
The Incredible Machine
Gizmos and Gadgets
Kid Pix
Snood
SimAnt
SimTower
SimCity 2000
Command and Conquer Tiberian Dawn
Nerf Arena Blast
SimCopter
Streets of SimCity
DinoPark Tycoon
SimCity

Also, I have a network card lying in my basement that is useless because it requires coaxial cable with a BNC connector.

I loved cheatcc.  I had the sequel of Microsoft arcade, Return of Arcade.  I loved The incredible Machine, I have even more contraptions.  I also loved Streets of Simcity, Simtower, and SimCopter.  I need to try running Simtower in DOSBox.  I loved Kidpix, I had the 3rd, just like with Oregon Trail.  I had Windows 98.  I used to have AOL, then MSN, then SBC Yahoo, which is now AT&T Yahoo.  Good times.  I just looked at the NERF game's box art, that kid looks ridiculous.

Yeah. The whole game looks like that. :cookieMonster:

Not technically the Internet, but I learned how to command DOS when I was 1 Years old.
