Well, you could have an editor wand in a way.
Have it be like a GUI in which you can input x, y, and z units and it will generate the most efficient set of bricks to fill that space. Great for thing like making those digging caves or perhaps could be used for quickly generating brick walls. So you're not really stretching a brick, merely using a brick planter/generator that will automatically fill a space with the perfect number of bricks.
