Roman Catholic is a religion, not a race. Jewish is a race when refering to the people of the tribe of Israel, as which they should be called Israelites (Though that is an old term and not as applicable in today's spread out Jewish population). In other cases Jewish is a religion. I have seen such a situation occur with one of my friends though as their father was Roman Catholic and their mother was Jewish, where each religion is inteanded to be passed down heriditary to the above mentioned paternal and maternal lines respectivly to the religion mentioned. But the way he phrased it is still rather abnormal.
