Got any guides on how to use one? I'm guessing they're a little different to the Gillette stuff I use which does a terrible job.

Honestly you should at least get a shaving brush and soap(it will completely alter your shaving experience). Canned shaving gels do soo much damage to your skin and end up drying your skin while shaving(which is the EXACT opposite thing you want) Where as shaving soap actually moisturizes and helps the hairs stick up making for a smoother/comfortable shave with MUCH cleaner results.
Using a straight razor is a learned skill, I learned from shaving ballons/peaches and my hands xD
Once I finally had the confidence to shave my own face with it the results were amazing. Now I use it everytime I shave and nothing feels better then shaving your neck with a blade that could slice your jugular like its butter :D
The problem with cartridge razors is they normally have 4-5 blades due to the idea that "More is better" which is 100% false. It only takes 1 blade to cut a hair ;) any more then that is overkill
