whats all this talk about computers not being able to forward, or how its harder on a mac then a pc...
i thought forwarding is done on the router itself, logged into easily from any browser on any computer.

or am i missing something

My Verizon FiOS was a pain in the arse to setup to forward. Took me a few weeks + Ephialtes to even figure out the interface.

You're missing the fact that Apple selectively markets to people who do not know how to use a computer.  The macintosh user identifies himself as ignorant and disabled.  When a task comes up that sounds difficult, he automatically assumes that he can't do it.  Most of the time he is correct.

Bah, I couldn't get port forwarding working on my computer. The two DNS numbers to set a satatic IP were the same and were also the same as my subnet mask, and it refused to work.

Downloading add ons is a challenge for me.  I usually have my dog do it for me.

Well, I was trying to port forward for an year about so, only to realize when testing that they already were...

off topic:
my experience with mac users arent the lack of computer or pc knowledge i think they should have had for the various things in the net and computer world they cant do.
but they just plain lack the wherewithal (sp?) to figure out how to do things they don't know how.

good computer use isn't about memorizing commands, tools, and settings. its just being capable of finding them. macs never let you become that person.
im sure even bill gates has to google stuff sometimes.

All of them are easy things to do...

And yet Mac stays alive.

Incredibly true.

Actually, no. Most people who get a Mac are smart with computers because they didn't choose a PC.
The macintosh user identifies himself as ignorant and disabled.
Not really. I just can't figure out how to port anything...
When a task comes up that sounds difficult, he automatically assumes that he can't do it.
Most of the time it's because PC's are so confusing, and the majority of instructions on how to do something online are for PC's.
Most of the time he is correct.
Exactly.
Anyway, activating my account is hardest for me.

So you're saying you're smart for being stupid?

No, I mean that I am not not sarcastic about not being able to not not activate my account... my head hurts.

Port Forwarding

this because every router GUI I've seen is so goddamned stupid it hurts

also because if you live in a dorm or apartment complex it's often impossible
