Control Panel>Manage Devices>Sound

It says it has the latest drivers when I try to update them. :\

You your you took out your old graphics card instead of your soundcard?  :cookieMonster:

What.

Uninstall your sound drivers if you can and reinstall.

I did, it picks something up now for sound in dxdiag, still getting static though.

Idk what else.

Try removing your new card's video drivers and put in your old card.

Holy stuff, I reinstalled the whole damn OS after deleting all partitions and the sound still doesn't work.

What the forget.

Open 'er up and poke around.

Did you put the video card in the sound card slot? Lol. [/sarcasm]

Make sure the sound card is not loose. Everytime I take my video card out to clean the fan or whatever the sound card gets loose. Try taking the Sound card out and put it back in.

I would highly recommend that you check to ensure the speakers work :D

There is no sound card; it is integrated into the motherboard.

Also I tried the speakers and 'phones, neither of which worked.

I think the video card may require a certain sound card.

Did you reinstall the drivers of the motherboard driver disk?
