Hold C to bring up the context menu, highlight an object with your mouse pointer and right click it and choose the 'Edit bones' option
Please note that it may not work on some bones or it may not work at all, to change how you edit the bones, just click on a bone you've already selected to change to rotate, scale or positioning mode
