i managed to get hyrule field into blockland, had correct collision, but a few spots were missing
the spots you see missing are the dirt trails, they didn't make it for some reason

If your using Blender then select both meshes and hit ctr-J and then export the entire object

Here's the bare basics of making the normal map. You create a high poly version of your creation, with all the detail you want to add. Next you retopologize it, meaning you make a low poly version from the high poly. Then you bake the textures from the high poly surface to the low poly surface. Also the grey map is the specularity map. It tells which places need more or less specularity. Hope that answered your question, if you need more help let me know!
Could you make another render of the final pillar with something other than environmental light so that we can see the shadows and the specularity? c:

yea, I'll get around to doing that tomorrow.
Also the video kinda shows that, but yea I'll do that.

That pillar took 3 months? What?

hey guys i think i finally found out how going to the store was made

Probably those bits were concave and the exporter couldn't cope with it.

I assume he didn't work on it daily and he has many more things in his life other than modeling.

no no no... XD I modeled this in about an hour and textured it in about 30 min. I've been working on something else for 3 months.
