I still feel very amateurish in regards to Blender modelling. Not only in skill, but I still have trouble with the dts technical aspects. Here's something I've been working on on-and-off:



Basically simple missile turrets (with a couple of other aspects around it with models I'm more satisfied with). Previously they were long and spindly, and I decided to make them more compact in the Blockland style. Except I'm not very experienced in Blockland style. I have a few questions:

1. How can I improve it? Make it more Blockland-y?
2. Is there a better place to put that seat? (Note that the player seems to lean with the vehicle itself, so I made the chair back in order to avoid passing through too much)
3. What does Blender's "Quick DTS import" do?



put a black textured face in the barrel to hide the end of it

possibly make the base a square with a beveled top, unless it's going to be able to rotate like that, in which case you might want to reduce the number of sides anyway.

get rid of those antenna-like things on it

make the top of the light gray stand it sits on have a radius that it pivots on to aim up and down, like this:

Thanks for the feedback! Still got a few questions.

What does the Blender DTS exporter's "Quick Export" option do, and where would a good place for the player to go? The issue for me is that the player leans up and down with the barrel going up and down (I have the animation working), so aiming becomes funny. The tank turret has only the barrel up and down, so no issue there. But this entire thing moves up and down, so I'm not sure what to do.
