I see what you're going for with the disconnected body parts, but it just looks too weird
Nah the legs are exploded for animation purposes, only the neck / tail / feet parts float so it should be fine. Also it's a dragon without wings, it's going to look a bit off :P

I learned how to tile textures from real life photos! The plaster in the image uses a photo of my actual wall.

Nice! But the normal and specular need to be lowered, I think.

Also, do yourself a flavor and bake in some AO maps. It's worth it (and very much so),
