if you make the inner bore of the barrel just a bit bigger, it should really complete the look, since now it has the barrel of a .22 or a .380 by the looks of it

Double post but, does any of you guys know a really good and easy to follow texture-mapping guide for blender? (For the new blender, not the old)

Edit mode
A (select all faces or the one you want to unwrap)
U
Select unwrap (or smart unwrap if very complicated shape such as a weapon or whatever)
Save image
Go to photoshop
Add layer over the original image
Add stuff you want as textures
Hide original image with the black lines
Save as png
Go back to blender
Open image
Done

Alternativly if its a plane or any shape that isnt really complicated. You can use the node editor and use an image texture node (or drag the image in there). And just connect it to the material output. Dont forget to unwrap the object to.
You can use texture vector (or whatever) and the mappig nodes to move and scale the texture.
